*AD* Since the launch of the original F20 back in 2010, I think I’ve owned every iteration of it. Now Blank Canvas Cosmetics has launched the F20 Supercharged brush, and she’s a beauty!
Using a flat-topped brush like the F20 and now the F20 Supercharged, €18, gives me the most flawless finish when applying my foundations, and that’s why they’re my go-to brushes for making it look like I know what I’m doing when doing my makeup!
What makes the F20 Supercharged different to the original F20?
I love the original F20 because of the dense, flat-top bristles that blend my foundation seamlessly into my skin. The Supercharged version takes it a step further in that the bristles are even more densely packed. There are more of them, and because they’re slightly longer than the bristles of the original F20, there’s more flexibility in them, so we get a smoother, more flawless, even application. There’s no need to worry about streaks or patchiness.
The F20 Supercharged is longer than the original F20, an extra 23cm in length. The flat top is larger, with more surface area to blend your foundation in, which helps make it apply foundation quicker. The handle is slightly thicker but feels really comfortable when using it.
My Top Tips for Using the F20 Supercharged brush
Less is more
I know that the F20 Supercharged applies foundation quickly, but my tip for when you want a more sheer, natural finish is to apply your base to the back of your hand, then dot it all over your face with your finger. Then, use the F20 Supercharged to buff the product into your skin—it literally does all of the work for you! This will ensure that you don’t apply too much product and that your foundation is flawless and natural.
Natural finish
I like to use a buffing motion with the Supercharged for a more natural finish. This helps to sheer out the coverage and melt the foundation into my skin—think your skin, but better.
Full coverage
Stippling is the way to go when using the F20 Supercharged for a fuller coverage look. This means bouncing the brush over your skin, and because the brush’s head has a large surface area, it makes quick work of this. By pressing the foundation into your skin, you’ll get a seamless, flawless, full-coverage finish.
Clean your F20 Brush Regularly
If you follow me on Instagram, I know that this is rich coming from me, as cleaning my makeup brushes is not my favourite chore! But I’ve only used the Blank Canvas Cosmetics Solid Brush and Sponge Soap to deep clean my brushes since it launched, and it’s definitely helped with their longevity. It breaks down the foundation quickly, leaving the bristles clean, soft, and ready for action.
Now, I’ll be totally honest with you. I don’t clean my foundation brushes after each use. I try to do them every week (usually on a Sunday to feel smug and accomplished. If I am going to reuse the same foundation brush, I make sure that I’m using the same foundation. I use a separate brush if I use one foundation one day and a different one the following day. But if I’m using the same foundation all week, I’ll use the same brush.
